The Tree of Remembrance

The Rotary Tree of Remembrance is getting ready to open up at in Patrick Street!

Our largest annual fundraising event is the Christmas Tree of Remembrance which has become a feature of Christmas in the Cork for the past 20 years. During that time it has raised more than a million euro for local charities, with the more than 100,000 euro dispersed last year, thanks to the generousity of the people of Cork.

People can write a message of remembrance to a loved one on a yellow ribbon. Thousands of these ribbons are used to decorate a giant Christmas Tree, located in centrally in Patrick St. in the run-up to Christmas.

Cork Rotary supports many local organisations and charities from the proceeds of the Tree of Remembrance outside BT in Patrick Street, leading up to Christmas each year.

We are looking for people in Cork to help with this great fundraising event, either monetarily or by volunteering for some shifts collecting at the Tree. The giant tree in Patrick St., festooned with thousands of yellow ribbons, has become synonomous with Christmas in Cork. Over the past 20 years, this very successful project has raised more than a million euro for local charities, thanks to the generosity of the people of Cork.

If you can help with a couple of hours any time from 9th -24th December (indoors in the custom-made cabin outside BT), just email secretary@corkrotary.ie or Text or WhatsApp 087-2569322 or 087-2561873, to organise a time that suits you.
